Karen Hall

(November 10, 1952 - March 6, 2015)

Obituary written by Jessica L. Hall

After living courageously with Stage IV breast cancer for nearly five years, Karen Hall of Goleta, California passed away peacefully on March 6, 2015 with loved ones at her side. She was 62 years old. Karen grew up in Goleta, lived in Eugene, Oregon during most of her adulthood, and she returned to Goleta in 2007 to take care of her beloved mother, Bette Shaver.

Karen was a profoundly caring person who will be remembered warmly for her lifelong passion for equality and justice. She performed selfless acts of generosity with joy, and she had a particularly soft spot in her heart for abandoned animals and people with disabilities.

Karen is survived by her brother, John Shaver Jr. of Santa Barbara, California, her sister, Kathryn Stoltzfus of Cordova, Alaska, her daughters Kristin Hall of Goleta, California and Jessica Hall (Jeff Bayer) of Portland, Oregon, and her ex-husband/best friend Marty Hall of Eugene, Oregon.

Karen's family is grateful for the love and strength she received from dear friends she met through Inspire.com's metastatic breast cancer support group. Donations in Karen's memory can be made to Kristy Roberts-Barnes online at http://www.gofundme.com/agdqq0

In lieu of flowers or a service, please celebrate Karen's life by following the final piece of motherly advice that she gave her daughters:

                 "Don't worry. Go play!"
