Sweet Dreams Ago

Sweet Dreams Ago

saw myself in the mirror, just the other day

saw the lines of age and the signs of rage in my face

you would never guess it to see me now

but i once turned a head or two

twenty years and sweet dreams ago, twenty years and sweet dreams ago

left my home and my family, headed for big-city lights

my prospects looked good and i knew i could do all right

yes, i had great ambitions, but they suffered a setback or two

twenty years and sweet dreams ago, twenty years and sweet dreams ago

sweet dreams ago i was something to see, wasn't i?

     sweet dreams ago i had a future, didn't i?

sweet dreams ago i was holding you here by my side

sweet dreams ago we had each other and life was all right

sweet dreams ago, sweet dreams ago

i knew my share of lovers, some i did not know well

but those days are gone, now i long to hold you again

every night as i think of you, i am sorry i hurt you so

twenty years and sweet dreams ago, twenty years and sweet dreams ago
